"Of course I can help!" She got thrilled at the sound of being going on a hunt.

Slade grinned at Finnick and Cloud's excitment. "If we're lucky." he said to his son, and winked. "Right, let's go." he said, this time talking to Rusalka and Little Cloud. As they were moving, he inhaled deeply and picked some old scents. No prey besides the occasional hare had gone through here rescently. He sighed. This would mean they would have to travel farther to get something to bring back. They would have to travel farther from the pups... and Meadow. He noticed that Rusalka was sniffing the air as well. She must have realized the same thing. "What do you guys think ? Should we try to stick around here and get non-filling prey, or should we venture out farther and get better quality prey ?" he wanted to know their opinions before they did anything else.

"I think Meadow can handle the pups. Lets go out for something more filling. We need to eat as much food as possible for winter" Rusalka said after thinking for a while.
Meadow grinned. She loved that she would get to take care of the pups.
Finnick smiled and ran to Akira. "Guess what? We get deer for dinner" he said.

Akira smiled and pawed at her brother. "Deer ? Yay ! I love deer, it is so yummy !" she said excitedly.
Slade nodded. "Alright, let's head out then." They started off at a fast pace, but as they got into thicker woods, they slowed down. Slade openned his mouth slightly, tasteing the air. He grinned when he caught a faint, but unmistakable scent of deer. Finnick and Akira would be pleased. He looked to Rusalka and then to Little Cloud, before beginning to track down the deer.

Rusalka also scented the deer. She perked her ears up, listening out for it. She kept her steps quiet as she hunted.

The deer was close. It was a lone female... strange, but Slade didn't mind. A lone deer would make an easier kill. The scent got stronger and stronger. It was really close. He perked his ears, listening for the prey.

Rusalka split off from Slade and White Cloud, going around so if the deer tried to run, she would intercept it. She looked around with sharp eyes and listened for the deer.

Slade followed her lead, and split off to the right. Now they were positioned to where they could come at the deer in three directions. Slade hesitated, wondering if they were positioned and ready. They continued to move in that formation, closing in on the deer. Slade could see Rusalka behind the deer and Cloud. They were ready. Slade exhaled and rushed at the unsuspecting deer. Stupid creature...

The deer ran at her direction and she charged at it. It swerved away from her and headed towards Cloud. She paused, tense and ready and glanced over at Slade.

Slade's heartbeat quickened as it always did when he was hunting. His eyes locked with Rusalka for a secound and then he ran off towards the deer. He was on the deer's left side, Cloud was on its right. Slade caught the deer's flank in his mouth and chomped down hard. He could feel hot blood stain his mouth, and he let go. The deer kicked him in the jaw, because of that, and Slade hit the ground hard. He laid there for a secound, panting, before shakily sitting up to see what was going on. His jaw hurt, but he didn't think it struck hard enough to do any serious damage.

She gave a worried glance at Slade. She would have to check up on him when the hunt was over. She ran behind the deer, grabbing one of its hind legs in her jaws. She pulled it to the ground and it kicked out at her, barely missing her head.

Slade's eyes were blurring to the point where everything was a faded green blob. He stood up and inhaled, letting his nose be his eyes. It almost made him dizzy, but he shook that feeling off and ran blindly in the direction of the deer's scent. All this trouble for a stupid deer, he thought. No wonder it was so confident to be alone.., he added, amused that he had gotten hit so easily. After a few blinks and deep breathing his "regular" blurred vision returned where the blobs took more shape. He could see the deer and his packmates a little distance away and hurried to meet them. He couldn't let them have all the fun, now could he ?

She looked up as Slade approached. She got up, letting Cloud hold down the deer, and walked towards him. She nuzzled his face softly. "Are you ok?" she asked.

Slade looked at her. "Yeah... I'm alright," he panted. "Are you two ok?" He nuzzled her back, worried that the deer had hurt her.
